The Trust offers a flexible package of options to enable groups or families to enjoy canal and canal-side holidays. The Shropshire Lass II has sleeping accommodation for up to eight people and the cottage and chalets at Lyneal Wharf can accommodate up to fourteen people. The Shropshire Lad has no sleeping accommodation and is suitable for day trips on the canal.
We try our best to keep the bookings calendar as up-to-date as possible, but it is always worth double checking by using the contact details below.
A deposit of 20% is payable on all weekly and short stay bookings and the balance due not later than 28 days before the starting date of the let. A Damage Deposit of £100 is payable together with deposit if the Shropshire Lass boat has been hired. Although fuel is included in the hire charge, groups are requested to ensure they do fill up as necessary and consequently the Trust will reimburse all expenditure on production of receipts.
The hire period for weekly bookings is based on six days use of the boat and seven days of the cottages. The boat(s) and cottages are available from 3.00pm on the Saturday commencing the hire period. The boat(s) must be returned to Lyneal Wharf by 3.00pm on the Friday ending the hire period for servicing and repairs. The cottages must be vacated by 9.30am on the Saturday ending the hire period. It may be possible by prior arrangement for those parties wishing to use the Shropshire Lass II for accommodation on the Friday evening to do so once maintenance work has been completed.
Start and finish times for short break stays will vary dependant on the particular days requested.
It is essential that groups contain sufficient numbers of able bodied people to ensure safety at all times.
It is recommended that no less than three abled bodies persons accompany disabled persons on each boat and that an able bodied person is available for supervising any parties remaining at the cottages. The maximum number of people permitted on either boat at any one time is 12. The Lyneal Trust reserves the right to cancel any booking where an inadequate proportion of able bodied to disabled persons occurs.
In the event of such cancellation, the Trustees will be entitled to retain the deposit and will not be liable to hirers for any claim or loss howsoever arising in consequence of the cancellation.
Cancellation by hirer
Deposits will be forfeited on cancellation unless the Trust is able to re-book the hire period, in which event the deposit will be returned less an administration charge of £25.
