The Shropshire Lad has no sleeping accommodation and is suitable for day trips on the canal.
A deposit of 20% is payable on all weekly and short stay bookings and the balance due not later than 28 days before the starting date of the let.
A Damage Deposit of £100 is payable when the balance is due. This deposit is payable separately and the cheque will be returned upon safe arrival of the boat in an undamaged condition.
Fuel is included in the hire charge and the Shropshire Lass comes fuelled for two weeks use. If you do begin to run low on fuel please contact Mark Dicken at the Lyneal Trust and he will ensure sufficient supplies are made available.
The hire period for weekly bookings is based on six days use of the boat and seven days of the cottages. The boat(s) and cottages are available from 3.00 p.m. on the Saturday commencing the hire period. The boat(s) must be returned to Lyneal Wharf by 3.00 p.m. on the Friday ending the hire period for servicing and repairs. The cottages must be vacated by 10.30 a.m. on the Saturday ending the hire period. It may possible by prior arrangement for those parties wishing to use the Shropshire Lass for accommodation on the Friday evening to do so once maintenance work has been completed. Start and finish times for short break stays will vary dependent on the particular days requested.
It is essential that safety of all individuals is ensured at all times and in this respect the Lyneal Trust requires all groups to observe the following responsibilities when hiring Trust boats:
- Every group hiring a boat must have one person who is in command or charge.
- The person in charge of the boat (s) must be familiar with the appropriate safety rules and ensure that they are followed by members of the group.
- There must be at least two persons on board who are not disabled in any way.
- Maximum persons allowed on board must be limited to no more than 12 on board at any time.
Any individuals or parties remaining at the wharf-side facilities should be accompanied by at least one person who is not disabled.
Non compliance with the above Responsibilities will give The Lyneal Trust the right to cancel any booking. In the event of such cancellation the Trustees will be entitled to retain the deposit and will not be liable to hirers for any claim or loss howsoever arising in consequence of the cancellation.
Cancellation by hirer
Deposits will be forfeited on cancellation unless the Trust is able to re-book the hire period, in which event the deposit will be returned less an administrative charge of £25.
Whilst every effort has been made to make the boats accessible to people in wheelchairs the maximum size that can be accommodated is a wheelchair with a width of up to 24 inches (61 cms). There is a spare wheelchair on site if required.
