The Shropshire Lad
The Shropshire Lad is a 45 foot canal boat designed for use and operation by people with disabilities. It is ideal for day trips but also available to groups staying at the cottage and chalets.
A volunteer skipper can be provided for day trips and a hands-on approach is very much encouraged. Passengers are encouraged to steer the boat themselves.
The boat includes a ramp, hydraulic lift, hydraulic steering in addition to the conventional tiller, toilet and galley and the bow area of the boat is covered by a canopy.
Groups will have full use of the galley to prepare lunches. The boat includes a hob and fridge.
Day trips are available on The Shropshire Lad from March to the end of October.
Maximum number of passengers is 12. For comfort, the optimum number of wheelchairs users are two.
The daily charge for the boat is £65. If required the Trust may provide one of its willing band of volunteers to act as your skipper for the day. The boat is available for the full day and groups are asked to state the time they require between 10.00 am and 6.00 pm.
